This cover of Peter Schilling's 80s classic is very good. The Shiny Toy Guns add their usual modern electronic pizazz, with Sisely's soft vocals and once again we have a hit. True to the original, but with a delightful spin, this song is WELL worth listening to for any 80s fan, or Shiny Toy Guns fan. In fact, if you were a New Wave/Electronica fan, you might just love it too!!

Some may think this song is for 'tweens' only and dismiss this because it's 'Disney' and from the Hannah Montana movie soundtrack. Personally, I couldn't care less that this girl is only 15 or 16 or whatever she is...all I know it that I get chills every time I listen to this song.

Sure, it's cliche in a way, and obviously written to be a commercial success. But, the songwriters here have done a fantastic job of crafting an extremely inspirational tune...I love the fact you don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out the message of keeping the faith, battling through our struggles and never giving up. It hits me right in the gut and the heart.

It starts soft with just piano and Miley's vocal and builds to a soaring chorus with full instrumentation. Although I've never liked a Miley Cyrus song before, she excels this time around and leans toward her country roots, passionately and sincerely delivering the message in a way that can make a 42-year-old man like myself almost tear up. Laugh at me all you want, but before you do, really give this song a good listen, because I believe many can and will be inspired by "The Climb".

Every now and again a song is released that stands unparalleled by the artist's previous work and you just know that this song will go down as the band's signature tune. Shinedown's "Second Chance" is one of these songs. I remember when I first heard Audioslave's "Like A Stone" and got the same feeling I got when I first listened to "Second Chance", both have a deep and powerful meaning that can be appreciated by any Rock music lover. Sure its emotional and seemingly heartfelt, but that is why it is so good.

Listening to the lyrics and feeling the rhythm make this song what it is. We all have times when we must sacrifice something for the good of many, this song is about redemption for something done in the past. It would seem appropriate to relate it to martyrdom, in the sacrifice of yourself for a cause you believe in. The chorus goes as follows, "Tell my mother, tell my father I've done the best I can. To make them realize this is my life, I hope they understand. I'm not angry, I'm just saying, sometimes goodbye is a second chance." Clearly a shot at redemption for something that occurred in the past. The heartfelt pleading to the parents indicates the hope of understanding he asks of them. I know that I can empathize with the lyrics and I know I have sacrificed myself at times for the benefit of others, and I think any listener should be able to sympathize with this song.

It seems to me that some rock groups make one great song, even when they are usually a faster rock band they produce one or two songs that stand out from the rest. The songs are usually slower and contain a message about life in general. "Simple Man" by Lynyrd Skynyrd, "Lonely Day" by System of a Down, and the aforementioned "Like A Stone" by Audioslave, all come to mind when I think of this category. "Second Chance" is a catchy and well thought out song. Sure, it could just be the band's conformation into Pop-Rock, but I like to think of it as a true testament to the band's quality and ability. Producing a song like "Second Chance" seems to require humility, song writing talent, and playing ability, Shinedown has proved that they are capable of this with this song.

This is definitely the awesome song on the Watchmen Trailer 1. Have never heard it until now and am smitten. What a brilliant idea to use it on the trailer. I would never have guessed it wasn't written just for the Watchmen movie, because if you look at the lyrics, it fits quite perfectly to the Watchmen story and plot. Incidentally, did I hear Philip Glass on Trailer 2? Again, another inspired piece of "music casting". Whoever did the Watchmen trailer really knows his/her music and truly rocks.

I've been a huge Oingo Boingo fan for decades, but of course I'm mostly resigned to listening to my old cassettes since the band broke up more than a decade ago. I was very pleasantly surprised to hear Danny Elfman's vocals as I watched the pretty cool Wanted DVD.

The song is great, hard guitar riffs and pounding drums (no Boingo horn section though), and of course Elfman's awesome voice. I bought the MP3 here on Amazon and have been very pleased with my purchase.

Arcade Fire toured the world in a hurricane of a tour supporting their album 'Neon Bible' in 2007 and 2008. When I first heard about Asher Roth, and saw what the guy looked like, I didn't think he would be a serious rapper; he looked, honestly, like a preppy college boy. But I listened to this song, and actually really liked it. Roth represents a rap style that I, a suburban Jewish kid, can relate to. His music is easy to approach, and you don't feel like a huge poser listening to it. I highly recommend this track! Also, keep an eye out for the album coming out in April... I think it's called "Asleep in the Bread Aisle."

I loved this song from the moment I heard it. It is just the kind of song that makes you inhale deeply and close your eyes...and it has been a while since I have felt that way about a song. After the cymbal-crashing, International #1 hit Just Dance, you're probably expecting some very solid, but somewhat standard dance music ... And that's exactly what you're going to get.

It's very strange to me that on an album such as hers (go get it by the way, it's top notch) jam-packed with number ones, she would pick this single for a sophomore single. It's more like filler. While (once again) it's solid enough; if you want to hear some top notch Lady Gaga you'd be better off with Paparazzi, or Just Dance, where she's shows her vocal range more.

About the song: She sings most of the song in a lower register, which is god, because as much as I love her, her range is not going to turn Mariah green anytime soon. However the Producer of this song (Red One?) keeps chiming in with this bizarre mu-mu-mu-ma sound effect which does nothing for the song. The Song is very chorus-heavy, (the words "He'll read my, he'll read my, no he can't read my poker face" take up 1' 45" of this song alone, I counted) which is actually a good thing, as the chorus is the only part of this song that stands out. The Synthesizer is coursing up and down and her voice mixes really well with it. It's fun to dance to, but it won't rock your World.

If you didn't like Lady Gaga before, or you just don't like Dance Music categorically, this song will fall flat in your eyes. But if you're looking for something to groove to, feel welcome to sample this song by Pops up and coming Diva.

When it has came down to the past year, there have been too many dance songs that have felt like they don't make you want to get up and dance. That unfortunately has been the case with the overexposed Rihanna, and some other acts. For newcomer Lady Gaga, and her devut single Just Dance, I didn't find the song to really seperate itself from the wannabe acts of dance. The song might've been good as flavor of the moment, but it didn't really seem to seperate itself to being its own. I didn't find the song to be anything special. Although Lady Gaga has potential, I do hope that she can do more to make better dance songs all her own. Hopefully, her next song can be something special.

Silently propelling through the muddled pop punk genre, with hits like "Swing Swing," and the breakout "Dirty Little Secret," AAR has returned, and after a little lull, they've come back to give you hell, or their girlfriend hell at least... Well, maybe it's just me, but I was totally confused about the lyrics, as he wants to give his girlfriend hell, and he's lying about something, which makes you question his motives and what he says all-together.

Confusing lyrics aside, the song is a great arena rocker in the style of Fall Out Boy, causing you to pump fists, and join in with the chorus. It's rather catchy, and although the verses are a bit lackluster, the chorus brings home the money.

Overall, I'd call it worthy of the band's catalog, and it's certainly one of their best. It seems they're going after Fall Out Boy's audience, so expect some friendly competition, or sound-alikes in the future. But for now,

My Life Would Suck Without You

Kelly Clarkson is back in her photoshopped form with the Dr. Luke/Max Martin instant hit "My Life Would Suck Without You." Although she has temporarily left her `December' style behind, Clarkson still knows exactly how to make a pop gem.

"Suck" does not present listeners with anything truly groundbreaking, lyrically ("either way I found out / I'm nothing without you") or musically, but it does feature Clarkson's signature toned vocals. Her vocals, though dressed up thanks to autotuning, blend well with the techno-rock composition of the song. The "Since U Been Gone"-like opening guitar chord and the "So What"-like chorus call originality into question but the catchiness of "Suck" cancels out those claims.

Where Clarkson really makes "Suck" her own is in the final chorus when she hits a few astronomically high notes. This is the artist that fans know and love and her return to the music scene after a few rough years is just what radio needed.

Kelly Clarkson may be traveling the commercially-friendly route right now, especially with the techno thing in style, but her spunk, tenacity and unparalleled vocals set her leaps and bounds ahead of the Katy Perrys and the Lady Gagas of the world. She will always be a role model for artists, and "My Life Would Suck Without You" is something special for that reason.

Soulja Boy,infamous for his ludicrous hit "Crank Dat",has managed to redeem himself. He sings. With lyrics. He's capable of a smoky,soulful sound. It's an R&B song blended with rap. The song's theme is simple--he's far from his girlfriend,so he asks her to "kiss me thru the phone." It's a romantic song,compared to the usual crudity of rap (for comparison,listen to Flo Rida's "Low") It's heartfelt. It's soul with a rhythm. Soulja should seriously consider soul.

The Fray's "How to save a life" is a catchy, thoughtful song. It's no wonder that Grey's Anatomy snapped it up,with its lyrics about losing a friend,regret,mortality. It's not the usual cliched pop song. It's got an infectious beat. Unfortunately,it's been overplayed. "How to save a life" nearly succumbed to overplaying. Still, it's a thoughtful, deep song.

Marriage and fatherhood have softened up Bush's front man, Gavin Rossdale. "Love remains the same" is a departure from Gavin's formerly punk rock sound. It's the sort of song one expects when radio stations have their "Between the sheets,after 8 pm on weeknights." It wouldn't be out of place on a New Age/smooth jazz station.

"Love remains the same" is a pleasant,rather boring song about...love in everyday life. One can hear that Gavin's lyrics draw their inspiration from his day-to-day life with Gwen Stefani, No Doubt. It's nice to hear a song about fidelity, still being in love when the initial flush of passion has worn off, and finding joy in the mundane. Still, it doesn't have to be so... dull. Gavin sounds at times like another Sting. Since his wife is renowned as a gay icon,one wonders if his "Love remains the same" will be a staple at same-sex nuptials for couples who have been together for years before making it legal. The song remains the same,for better or worse.

Carrie Underwood's "Before he cheats" is an engaging ballad. Forget for a moment that Underwood doesn't exactly have Nashville credentials (then again,neither does the Aussie Keith Urban), "Before he cheats" is good cheesy fun.

"Before he cheats" is a revenge fantasy of the wronged woman taking it out on her man's car. Tires get slashed, windows get smashed. Cathartic aggression. Anyone who's been betrayed can understand the anger.

"Before he cheats" is American Idol-friendly country music. It's good campy fun.

This one really hits me. I was a grunt for 13 yrs. The guilt the grunt expresses towards the end of the song, matching with what Geoff sings through out the song, is just perfect. "A fool is left to live while the brave ones fall." That and so many other lyrics in the song are just so fitting. A perfect way to say "Thank you for serving". (Which I hate to hear. Don't thank me. Go serve!) The music is as always complex with many levels that all the nuances will not appear till after numerous hearings.

Flo Rida's "Right Round" is a cover version of the '80s hit by Dead or Alive. It's a collaboration between the rapper and some singer named Keyshia,who's a Katy Perry soundalike. The rhythm and techno twists are quite good, but other than that, it's nothing like the original. This song is either dead or alive, and it's dead. "Right Round" works as background music, but beyond that,it's hopeless. As Flo Rida had a guilty pleasure hit with "Low",so is he a one-hit wonder like Dead or Alive.

When it has came down to the past year, there have been too many dance songs that have felt like they don't make you want to get up and dance. That unfortunately has been the case with the overexposed Rihanna, and some other acts. For newcomer Lady Gaga, and her devut single Just Dance, I didn't find the song to really seperate itself from the wannabe acts of dance. The song might've been good as flavor of the moment, but it didn't really seem to seperate itself to being its own. I didn't find the song to be anything special. Although Lady Gaga has potential, I do hope that she can do more to make better dance songs all her own. Hopefully, her next song can be something special.

After the cymbal-crashing, International #1 hit Just Dance, you're probably expecting some very solid, but somewhat standard dance music ... And that's exactly what you're going to get.

It's very strange to me that on an album such as hers (go get it by the way, it's top notch) jam-packed with number ones, she would pick this single for a sophomore single. It's more like filler. While (once again) it's solid enough; if you want to hear some top notch Lady Gaga you'd be better off with Paparazzi, or Just Dance, where she's shows her vocal range more.

About the song: She sings most of the song in a lower register, which is god, because as much as I love her, her range is not going to turn Mariah green anytime soon. However the Producer of this song (Red One?) keeps chiming in with this bizarre mu-mu-mu-ma sound effect which does nothing for the song. The Song is very chorus-heavy, (the words "He'll read my, he'll read my, no he can't read my poker face" take up 1' 45" of this song alone, I counted) which is actually a good thing, as the chorus is the only part of this song that stands out. The Synthesizer is coursing up and down and her voice mixes really well with it. It's fun to dance to, but it won't rock your World.

If you didn't like Lady Gaga before, or you just don't like Dance Music categorically, this song will fall flat in your eyes. But if you're looking for something to groove to, feel welcome to sample this song by Pops up and coming Diva.
